Where Hong Kong dog owners ate in August, and what they found

A real dog at a real table tells you more than a polished restaurant photo. For this August round-up, we took dated visits from the Hong Kong dog-friendly restaurants Facebook group, saved the useful photos and added the details to each DogDogHK venue page.

Rules change. Treat every tip below as a community snapshot from early August 2026. Call the branch before you go, especially on weekends, stadium days, and mall peak hours.

Start with these three visits

1. Avanti Pizzeria — Sha Tin Regal Riverside

Avanti Pizzeria at Regal Riverside Hotel is the clear headline of this batch. Community visitors described a pet semi-buffet setup with dogs at the table, friendly staff, and a reported surcharge around lunch +HK$48 / dinner +HK$68 per person — always reconfirm when booking.

It is a proper “treat night” pick: Italian-American hotel dining, room for small and medium dogs in the pet zone, and strong photo evidence of dogs settled beside plated steaks and dessert spreads.

2. LAB EAT — Mong Kok T.O.P

LAB EAT at T.O.P (5/F) was called out as spacious and atmospheric for dogs. Reminder: T.O.P common areas still need leash or carrier. Book weekend evenings and ask for the pet seating zone.

Sister branch: LAB EAT on Kimberley Road, TST — same brand vibe; confirm that shop’s dog zone separately.

3. Asura Thai — AIRSIDE Kai Tak

Asura (泰沾麵) showed up in community photos with small dogs at a full Thai street-food spread. Casual, photogenic, and workable for one or two small dogs — just follow AIRSIDE mall rules on the walk in.

For coffee, brunch or an easy lunch

• Flying Pig Bistro (Sheung Wan) — long-time brunch favourite; outdoor/shopfront seats are usually the dog move. Arrive early on weekends.
• Zombie Specialty Coffee (Jordan) — excellent beans, compact room; realistic for one small calm dog and a short sit.
• Barista Jam (Sheung Wan) — specialty coffee on the dog list; weekdays quieter than the lunch rush.
• BADGERS CAFE (Hung Hom) — all-day breakfast; small/medium dogs fit better than large ones at peak brunch.
• Beans @ East Point City (Hang Hau) and Beans @ tmtplaza (Tuen Mun) — familiar dog-friendly brunch formula inside malls; leash rules still apply in corridors.
• PAUSE CAFE (Mui Wo) — easy ferry-side stop after Lantau days out.
• Espace Elastique (Tai O) — village international cafe; charming alleys, tighter on tourist weekends.

When you want a proper dinner

• EL TORO Steak House & Bar — Ma On Shan WE GO MALL; solid ratings, book dog dinner on weekends.
• Terrace In Seaside — New Town Plaza L6; strong OpenRice score and FEHD listing — plan the lift route.
• MEDIUM RARE STEAK — Tseung Kwan O Centre; mall steak stop with active local dog-dining chat nearby.
• THE BAYSIDE O’THAI Terrace Bistro — Kowloon City Thai terrace; shopfront outdoor edge is the usual dog zone.

Local comfort food, with a few catches

• Ging Sun Ho King of Bun (Wan Chai) — community note: friendly staff, possible daytime height limit (~50cm), dogs not on chairs, mats available. Reconfirm before you go. Sister mall branch: TKO Plaza.
• Grove (Kowloon City) — Western FEHD listing; quieter weekday lunches suit medium dogs.
• MYTH JOKBAL (Causeway Bay) — Korean jokbal; weeknights easier than Friday peaks.
• Dead Poets (Central) — better for small dogs on quieter afternoons.

Community-reported only (addresses still soft)

• 平民飯堂 Ping Man Fan Tong — CeCe Lau visit with a Shiba (dinner + sweet soup). Confirm the exact branch before travelling; the name is common.
• 深仔記 @ 將軍澳中心 — Pik Kwan Ng: cheap cha chaan teng / noodle hybrid, dinner plates ~$60+, bill ~$110. Pin the shop unit at Tseung Kwan O Centre first.

Turn the new Wan Chai notes into a night out

• Mansons Lot (Swatow Street) — Gigi Fan: solid food, easy-going staff, right by Hopewell Centre for a post-meal mall walk (still reconfirm mall dog rules).
• wooo (Jaffe Road strip) — Ada Ng’s list flags it as welcoming large and small dogs. Strong re-visit tier; reconfirm house rules on the day.
• 川燒 Chuan Shao (Lockhart Road) — called a night-out first pick for pet owners on Ada’s round-up. Book peak evenings.
• The Satay House / 泰國簡單廚房 — value Thai on Jaffe Road with dogs.
• SHIFT — atmospheric Jaffe Road option on the same list.
• Lounge Hakuba (Tower 535, Causeway Bay) — Ada’s “pleasant surprise” pick; watch tower common-area rules on the way in.

FSTW. COFFEE on Tung Choi Street gets a dedicated Ada Ng shout-out: leisure cafe energy, free seating, community-reported hours around 08:30–19:00 — reconfirm before you go.

At Ging Sun Ho SSP, the chair is off limits

Community comment on Ging Sun Ho King of Bun (Sham Shui Po): dogs under the table / on the floor only (not on chairs), and one diner felt staff were not enthusiastic about pets. That is a community opinion, not a licence status change — decide after you reconfirm. Branch rules differ from the Wan Chai / TKO notes above.

At Science Park, stay inside the shop boundary

Community discussion around SENSORY ZERO and Tom Bar + Grill is clear: keep dogs inside licensed shop footprints. Common areas outside shopfronts often post no-dog rules. Leash tightly between buildings and bring the AFCD e-licence.

A permit gets you through the door. A visit tells you the rest.

Official FEHD status answers one question: are dogs allowed? A dated visit tells you where the dog sat, whether a stroller helped, how staff explained the rules and whether weekend brunch felt realistic.

That is why every report keeps its source and date. One good post proves that a visit happened. It does not promise that the same rules will be in place next time.
