Approved restaurants must display the official A3 dog-friendly notice prominently. A venue can also set stricter house rules, so check before sitting down.

Hong Kong now permits approved restaurants to welcome dogs under a defined set of licence conditions. Here is the practical version to check before you arrive.
The six rules to remember

Keep the lead short
Use a lead no longer than 1.5 metres, held by an adult. One adult may supervise up to two dogs.

Keep dogs off furniture
Dogs must stay off dining tables, chairs, counters, and reusable restaurant tableware. A carrier or stroller does not replace the lead requirement.

Bring your own dog supplies
Restaurants cannot prepare or reheat dog food. Bring your own water bowl, food container, mat, waste bags, and any treats your dog needs.

Carry licence details
Dogs aged five months or older must meet Hong Kong's licensing, microchip, and rabies-vaccination requirements. Staff may ask to see the record.

Leave if your dog is distressed
Staff may ask a disruptive or agitated dog to leave. If a dog bites someone, report it to police immediately, separate the dog, and cooperate with the follow-up process.
Before you go
Dog access can vary by seating zone, time, size, and venue policy. Check the restaurant listing, then call ahead when the policy is not explicit—especially for indoor seating or large dogs.
