Is this your dog's kind of park?

A wide-open grass-and-boardwater park hugging the western side of Telegraph Bay, with a pet-friendly mall and The Barkyard grooming salon right next door. Dogs are leashed on the main promenade but there's a designated off-leash turf area near the seawall, plus water taps and shaded lawns by the trees. The lawn is one of the few dog-friendly waterfronts that genuinely tolerates fetch on a long lead — best before 11am in summer when shade still holds out and the harbour breeze cuts the heat.

Before you set off

Beware: snakes have been reported in the long grass in summer. Arrive before 11am for a shaded picnic spot under the trees and watch out for bikes on the boardwalk.

What you'll find there

  • Grassy lawn
  • Drinking water tap
  • Waste-bag station
  • Shaded trees
  • Seating
  • Harbour view
  • Sea breeze
