The full guide

A dog-owner's guide to Harbour City

Harbour City is a large harbourfront mall, but its pet rule is deliberately simple: keep pets in a carrier bag or stroller throughout the mall. Guide dogs on duty are exempt. That makes it a shopping and meal-planning stop rather than a place for a dog to walk. Pack the carrier before leaving and do not rely on finding one there.

The address-linked restaurant directory includes Kew Redhouse, Venchi, Charcoal Bar, Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine, Match 2 Taiwanese Kitchen and Mulan. They are useful restaurant leads, but Harbour City asks visitors to check each tenant's current rules before dining or entering a shop. Call the branch if a dog is part of the booking. A carrier rule for the mall does not mean a food business has to accept the carrier at its table.

The mall provides pet pads, waste bags and wet wipes at Shoppers' Care Centres on Level 3 of Ocean Terminal near OT307 and Level 4 of Gateway Arcade near GW4002. Both are open daily from 10am to 10pm. Those supplies help with an unexpected mess, but owners still need to keep the dog contained and comfortable through a long indoor visit.

Parking varies by car park. From 7am to 10:59pm, P5 is HK$17 per 30 minutes; P6, P1 and P3 are HK$19 per 30 minutes. All are HK$6 per 30 minutes overnight, from 11pm to 6:59am. These rates also apply on weekends and public holidays. The official page in this record does not state a current spending threshold for free parking, so do not plan around an assumed redemption.

Choose a restaurant after calling, bring a comfortable stroller or carrier, and treat the care centres as backup. That is the realistic way to make Harbour City work with a dog.

Harbour City can be a long indoor route, so choose equipment that keeps the dog settled rather than merely meeting the entry rule. A well-ventilated carrier or a secure stroller makes it easier to pause at a shop or at either Care Centre if needed. The restaurant list is useful for planning with people who are not bringing a dog, but a dog owner should obtain the branch answer first. Since the official parking record has no current complimentary-spend threshold, budget for the posted rate and treat any later offer as a bonus after you have checked it.
